It was proposed that pre-hydrolysing tule (Typha domingensis Pers) would make it possible to produce handsheets with strength-related properties similar those of conventional commercial paper, in addition valorizable hemicelluloses. The hypothesis tested a biorefining scheme involving autohydrolysis. Conditions were optimized maximize the extraction hemicelluloses while preserving glucan integrity. autohydrolysis at liquid solid ratio 13 141 °C for 45 min (optimized conditions) provided commercially useful liquor containing primarily before alkaline made obtain valuable phase comprising between 23.3% and 71.6% all raw material. gross heating value hydrolyzed increased (1.6% 7.9 %) respect subjected soda–anthraquinone pulping. yield, ethanol extractives, kappa number, viscosity, glucan, xylan, Klason lignin, soluble lignins, as well tensile index evaluated. Tule found be amenable industrial processing production quality cellulose derivatives. Autohydrolysis yielded pulp having obtained its absence, but using milder operating conditions.
